GO BACK

'

BRANDYWINE'  red maple was released  by the USDA US NATIONAL ARBORETUM in 1994. It is a cross between 'October Glory' red maple and 'Autumn Flame' red maple and has a beautiful red autumn color turning to brilliant long lasting purple-red. This  maple is a male plant and will not produce seedlings. 'Brandywine' red maple has a moderately columnar form, typically 25 feet tall and 12 feet wide in 12 years. Zones 4 - 8. For us,  Brandywine  grows faster than any of the other red maple varieties. Click here to view the National Arboretum fact sheet on this new variety. All these  maples released by the US National Arboretum have longer lasting and more vibrant fall color than older  varieties.
